“Vistas & Venues Revisited” Exhibit

Linda King Hall is the featured artist at The Artists’ Gallery during the month of June with her new exhibit “Vistas & Venues Revisited.” There will be an opening reception on June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Artists’ Gallery is located at 239 High Street in Chestertown.

Linda moved to Kent County from Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1997 and currently makes her home in Betterton.

“Since I have painted for the past 20 years on the Eastern Shore, marveling at its beautiful light on water, fields and changing skies, it amounts to a magical place for the painter,” explains Linda. “In this show I wanted to revisit some of my favorite themes, from landscape to still life. So I have explored scenes in the morning light as well as the same scene in the evening light. Still life has prompted me to repeat a theme using different paper such as “YUPO” which is a slick plastic surface, also watercolor canvas. I also painted some of my travel paintings that I had done originally in watercolor, now in oil. It’s a great challenge, changing mediums for a subject and giving a fresh eye to the subject matter.”

Originally from Ohio, she is a graduate of Ohio University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in graphic art and a minor in art education. She studied for three years with artist, illustrator, Charles Reid. She has taught art, K through 12. After taking two courses at Fairfield University in graphics, she worked with advertising agencies and design studios for 15 years.

She has participated in numerous juried art shows, winning over 50 awards. In 2010 she won the Stephen Quiller Award in the Northeast Watercolor Society’s International Show. In 2011 she won the Colson Printing Award in the BWS MidAtlantic Show. Linda has Signature membership in the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Northeast Watercolor Society. She was recently awarded Signature membership into the Philadelphia Watercolor Society in its 137th International show.

Linda is a Partner at The Artists’ Gallery as well as being a member of River Arts, and the Working Artist Forum in Easton. She is still freelancing in graphic design, pen and ink renderings and watercolor house portraits.
