“Buds and Blooms” Exhibit

The vivid colors and varied shapes and textures of spring flora have been captured in photographs, prints, paintings, drawings and ceramic pieces and will be on display at Main Street Gallery in Cambridge for its spring show, “Buds and Blooms.”

Award-winning photographer, Fran Saunders, a resident of both Cambridge and Ocean City and a member of the cooperative gallery, will be the featured artist. Fran, a native of New York, started her career photographing birds on the Eastern Shore. The birds were so quick and difficult to capture however, that she soon moved on to capturing other aspects of nature, including flowers.

Fran particularly enjoys manipulating her subjects in an artistic fashion and fine-tuning them so they become artful expressions of what she feels. She also loves to experiment with photographing or processing her subjects with interesting textures. When not using textures, Fran enjoys simplifying her photographs and adding more saturated hues to touch the viewer’s emotions with color.

Fran has won over 40 awards or commendations for her photographs and has shown her work in several states. Her art is owned by many private collectors on the Delmarva Peninsula and beyond.

“Buds and Blooms” will open on Friday, May 4 and run through Monday, June 25. The gallery’s hours are Friday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be two artist’s receptions on Second Saturdays, May 12 and June 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, which is located at 518 Poplar Street in Cambridge. Everyone is invited, and light refreshments will be served.

Main Street Gallery is currently accepting applications from artists who may be interested in becoming members or guest artists at the gallery. For more information, visit www.mainstgallery.org, go to their Facebook page at Main Street Gallery or call the gallery at 410-330-4659.
