November will bring two great art exhibits to South Street Art Gallery in Easton. On November 2, coinciding with the Easton Business Alliance’s monthly First Friday Gallery Walk, an exhibit of works by renowned watercolor artist (and Plein Air Easton alumnus) Stewart White will open. Entitled “Off the Beaten Path: Paintings from My Travels,” the exhibit will feature watercolor and oil paintings showcasing Stewart’s frequent travels to exotic locales around the world, including the south of France, Ireland, Spain and the U.S.
Stewart hails from Baltimore and is one of the rare plein air painters using the medium of watercolor. His background in architectural illustration adds to his skill set and his paintings reflect his knowledge of good design. Stewart’s paintings have the pleasing combination of good structure with a painterly style. Meet the artist at an opening reception on November 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery.
Also during November, South Street Art Gallery will have on display numerous paintings and sculptures by featured Waterfowl Festival artists, past and present. Artists include Sue deLearie Adair, Jill Basham, Will Helmsley, Matthew Hillier, Debra Howard, Sara Linda Poly, Paul Rhymer, Julia Rogers, Steve Rogers and Nancy Tankersley.
South Street Art Gallery will be open during each day of the Waterfowl Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Usual gallery hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and by appointment. Visit southstreetartgallery.com or call 410-598-1666 with questions. The gallery is located at 5 South Street in Easton, one block from the Waterfowl Festival headquarters.
