The New Year brings new commitments to health and wellness. The Oxford Community Center’s quest to provide programs that enhance lives led them to find two new health offerings starting in January. Try something new in the New Year.
Cavin Moore comes to Oxford from her studio in Cambridge called Anahata Yoga. This style of yoga appeals to all levels for its meditative and smooth stretching and breathing emphasis. Cavin is attune to each student’s level and customizes the workout for maximum benefits to each individual.
These classes will be at OCC Saturdays starting January 5th at 8am and 11 am for $12 per class. Drop-ins welcome.
Kerianne Hineman is an aerial artist with years of experience teaching. She will be offering a six week Beginner Aerial Fabric Workshop on Tuesdays at 10:00 am starting January 29th. Her sixty minute aerial fabric workshop is designed to introduce you to movement with, in, and around the silks. The class will focus on balance along with core and muscle strengthening. You will learn the basic skills in aerial fabric technique including knot work, how to transition in and out of poses, and even go upside down! The silks are not hung higher than 2.5 feet, so no worries about falling. This class will accommodate all people that have a curiosity for this beautiful style of exercise. The six week workshop costs $195. No drop-ins. Maximum of six people.
OCC invites the public to come to a free open house with Kerianne to see her demonstrate and answer any questions you may have about the aerial fabric exercise. The free open house is Friday, January 25th at 10:00 am.
