Fabulous Forgeries at Troika Gallery

A new exciting exhibit, “Fabulous Forgeries” opens July 3 at Troika Gallery in downtown Easton. What? Forgeries at Troika? Actually, select Troika artists were asked to paint “copies” of some of their favorite Old Master works and enter them in this judged competition.

Dr. Dan Weiss, President and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, will judge the show as will art lovers who come into the gallery and cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Photographs of the original painting will hang next to the copy as a reference. Award categories are Most Believable, Most Creative, Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice.

This entertaining exhibit will run parallel to Plein Air Easton and provide an opportunity to see a unique show and appreciate the historical context and creativity of the masterworks.

Troika Gallery will also display new works, constantly refreshing the gallery’s exhibition spaces. Bronzes, oils, pastels, ceramics, porcelain, watercolors, pencil drawings, and commissioned portraits are a hallmark of Troika, which features The Finest of Fine Art.

Located at 9 South Harrison Street, in Easton, call ahead at 410-770-9190 for the gallery’s current hours. Hopefully, the gallery will re-open with regular business hours in July. For more information, visit www.troikagallery.com.
