Located on Maryland’s bucolic Eastern Shore, the Oxford Community Center’s annual three-day Fine Arts Show ushers in the summer season. The juried exhibit draws a wide selection of collectors from the local area as well as from the Baltimore-Washington, Philadelphia, Virginia and New York City arenas and has been a highlight for several decades.
2021 will be the 37th year for the Fine Arts Show to be held May 14 – 16. Currently, applications are being accepted from prospective artists from October 1 through December 31. The event consistently attracts a wonderful group of people due in large part to the quality of the exhibitors. Promotional efforts are numerous and are placed in regional magazines, newspapers and radio stations. Maryland Tourism event calendars will also highlight the show as a signature event.
The juried exhibit and sale has supported the Oxford Community Center (a non-profit 501(C-3), since the 1980’s. OCC provides the region with a year round schedule of educational, cultural and recreational programs and events.
Prior to the start of the Fine Arts Show on Saturday, the Friday night Preview Party provides attendees the chance to “Meet the Artists”, view the exhibit and buy art! This has always been a fun evening where attendees get to mingle with the artists and enjoy a cocktail (or two) as well as partake of delicious hors d’oeuvres made by local chefs. On Saturday, the exhibit is open to the public. That evening the artists and the whole community are invited to purchase dinner, unwind, enjoy music, share stories from the day and get to know each other. On Sunday, the show is open once again to the public and closes at 4:00 PM. Incredible art is raffled off at the end of the show with a toast of bubbly for the occasion.
The exhibit locations are both inside and out and we will once again offer lunch items for purchase on both days….with the famous strawberry shortcake too!
A virtual gallery will accompany the show with more hybrid activities to be developed. All COVID precautions and guidelines will be followed. To apply, click here.
