6th Annual Claws for a Cause
July 12, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Preparations are currently in full swing for the sixth annual “Claws for a Cause,” a crab feast to benefit equipment needs at University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown.
The “Claws for a Cause” event will be held on Thursday, July 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Fisherman’s Crab Deck in Grasonville. Tickets are $90 in advance or $100 at the door and include all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, as well as a buffet of fried chicken, pork barbeque and assorted sides. Raffle tickets will also be available for $10 at this year’s “Claws for a Cause” for a chance to win one of two different prize packages, “Backyard Fun” or “Eastern Shore Living.”
Open since October 2010, the UM Shore Emergency Center (UM SEC) at Queenstown sees over 15,000 patients a year and provides care to members of the community in need of treatment for acute illnesses, injuries and trauma. Medical treatment at UM SEC at Queenstown is provided by board certified emergency medicine physicians, experienced nurses, radiology technicians and medical technologists.
“The ‘Claws for a Cause’ crab feast has been an important resource in keeping equipment updated at the emergency center in Queenstown,” says Mary Alice Vanhoy, manager, Emergency Department, UM SMC at Chestertown and UM Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown. “We are thankful for all the community support and helping us improve our patient care.”
