Wye Grist Mill Grinding Day

Saturday, August 5 and 19 • 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

900 Wye Mills Road, Wye Mills

The mill is open through mid-November. Grinding Days are the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Millers demonstrate the traditional stone grinding process. The Wye Grist Mill has been nearly continuously grinding grain since 1682 and produced flour that fed George Washington’s Continental army during the American Revolutionary War. 12th Annual MSSA Youth Fishing Derby

Youth fishing derby (in memory of Jon Bupp). All participants must be accompanied by parent or adult. Bring your own rods. A minimal amount of loaner rods available. Bait is provided. Wristbands are required for fishing and lunch admittance. Prizes: largest fish, smallest fish, most unique fish and most fish caught in each age group. Must be present to claim prize. Camp New Dawn

Camp Pecometh, Centreville

Camp New Dawn takes the essential ingredients of summer camp – fun, food and friendship – and adds activities that help children and teens express what it feels like to lose someone they love. Camp New Dawn is a retreat for children and teens who are grieving normally after the death of an important loved one. Campers learn healthy coping skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Camp New Dawn also includes a family retreat. Parents of campers arrive for an overnight session with other adults before they are joined by their children. During the second half of the family camp the adults and children play, talk and learn together.
