Country School Presents “Rock of Ages”

February 23, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Country School will present its 2020 spring musical, “Rock of Ages” (Middle School Edition) on Fridays, February 21 and 28 and Sundays, February 23 and March 1.

Set on L.A.’s famous Sunset Strip in 1987, “Rock of Ages” tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both travelled to L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. This classic love story is set against the troubles at the Dupree Room, a “legendary temple of rock ‘n’ roll excellence,” under threat by developers of being torn down and replaced with a strip mall. The threats of closure bring legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx to town, and an opportunity for Drew to chase his dream to rock out with the best.

Trouble brews as Drew abandons Sherrie for his dream of stardom, rock ‘n’ roll bad-boy Stacee lures Sherrie away, and the Dupree Room is surrendered to developers. Can Drew and Sherrie rescue their love, and can the Dupree Room be saved, before it’s too late?

This production marks the school’s third musical co-directed by Ryan Catterton and Katie Cox. With 34 cast members in grades fifth to eighth, the production features 80’s rock anthems such as “I Wanna Rock,” “Oh, Sherrie,” “Harden My Heart/Shadows Of The Night,” “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and everyone’s favorite, “Don’t Stop Believin” and is choreographed by Katie Cox. This fast paced 80’s rock adventure is sure to have both students and parents dancing in the aisles.

Tickets are $10 and are available online at countryschool.org or at the door. “Rock of Ages” (Middle School Edition) opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 21, with additional performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28, and 3 p.m. on Sundays, February 23 and March 1. The Country School is located at 716 Goldsborough Street in Easton. For information, call 410-822-1935.
