KidSPOT!

RiverArts, Chestertown
KidSPOT is a hands-on creative learning center for children aged two to 12 open every Saturday free of charge to kids accompanied by an adult. The center is a destination for area children where they can look forward to interacting with a variety of stimulating activities that expand their horizons. Located right next door to the RiverArts galleries, KidSPOT invites children to play, create and explore the arts and sciences. Judged Painting and Contemporary Craft Exhibition

This exhibition will showcase the region’s finest artwork. It opens on June 7 with an artists’ reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Artists working in painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture and fine craft (including metal, wood, fiber, ceramics, glass and jewelry) will be on display this month. Curators are Marj Morani and Pat Thompson and the Judge is Mary McCoy. The exhibition is open from June 7 through June 30.

Garfield Improv Group

The Garfield Improv Group offers actors, writers, and creative thinkers the opportunity to develop and grow their individual voice and technique through improvisation. Each week, the group will focus on elements such as initiating a scene, how to approach a character, making strong character choices, establishing and recognizing character status, and heightening a scene. Bay-to-Bay Ride

The Chestertown Lions Club will hold its annual Bay-to-Bay Ride to raise funds for the Lions Club Leader Dog Program for the Blind. Routes include a 50-, 86-, or 104-mile ride. There is also a 27-mile loop ride to historic Chestertown. Call Fred Sherriff at 410-778-5799 with questions.

The Seventh Annual “Art in Bloom,” a celebration of the art of floral design, will be held Sunday, June 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. Floral arrangements inspired by the artwork in the RiverArts June show will fill the galleries. Guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite floral arrangement while enjoying champagne, hors d’oeuvres and live music. Proceeds support KidSPOT Summer Camp Scholarships.
