First Saturday Guided Walk

Saturday, May 4 • 10-11 a.m.

Adkins Arboretum, 12610 Eveland Road, Ridgely

Explore the Arboretum’s diverse plant communities on a guided walk led by an Arboretum docent naturalist. Explore the bottomland forest and upland paths, meander through majestic beech trees, traverse the native meadows, and follow the narrow Tuckahoe Creekside path. Guided walks are free for members and free with admission for the general public. Tours begin at the Visitor’s Center and last approximately one hour. Greensboro Kids Fishing Derby

Saturday, May 4 • Register at 8:30 a.m. Fish from 9 a.m.-Noon

Choptank River Park, Greensboro

This free family-friendly fishing derby is a great day to get little ones out there fishing. The derby is open to children ages 16 and under. Prizes will be awarded in many categories.

Delmarva Driving Clubs Pleasure Carriage Driving Show

16th Annual Greater Greensboro Open Golf Tournament

Monday, May 13 • Registration at 9 a.m. Tee-off at 10 a.m.

Wild Quail Golf and Country Club, 1 Clubhouse Drive, Wyoming, Delaware

Tee-off to support the heritage initiatives of the Greensboro Historical Society. Proceeds support the research, preservation and dissemination of the history and cultural heritage of Greater Greensboro and Caroline County. This event features a putting contest, with a grand prize of a week at Rehoboth Beach. Awards will also be given for holes-in-one, team gross, team net and more. Rain date is Friday, May 17. Observe the beautiful Tuckahoe Creek and look for signs of beavers on a guided walk with a docent naturalist, and then enjoy a delicious and nutritious lunch along with a brief lesson about nutrition. Copies of recipes are provided. Plants of interest include Mountain Laurel, Beech, Tulip tree, pink Lady’s Slipper, Solomon’s Seal, and May Apple. The menu includes kale, corn, black bean, and parsnip soup, apple waldorf salad, dill cottage cheese bread with apple butter and lemon apple tart bars. 40th Annual Ridgely Strawberry Festival
