Daffodil Days and Daffy-Dogs
In celebration of the tens of thousands of bright yellow daffodils planted in the Town of St. Michaels the past three years, the community is invited to the Third Annual Daffodil Days on Saturday, March 28. Plan to spend time all weekend strolling down Talbot Street and throughout the historic district to see flower beds overflowing with daffodils and homes and businesses decorated with daffodils. The weekend will include the opportunity to take a self-guided tour with the use of an online map of the arrays of daffodil beds. Visitors can also spy winners of best house decor and best business window display. If you want your home or business to be judged, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Saturday at 11 a.m. in Muskrat Park, the Daffy-Dog Contest for best dog costume will be held. Dress your pooch in a daffodil theme. Prizes for first, second and third will be awarded in two categories, best individual dog and best group. No registration is necessary. St. Michaels Museum will lead a historic walking tour that starts at the museum at 2 p.m. for $5 per person, which is a great way to see daffodil plantings along the way. After the tour, tour-goers are invited for admission to the museum. Visit the St. Michaels Library’s seed library for free seeds to give your garden a boost. As you tour the town, members of the St. Michaels Art League will be painting plein air with an opportunity for folks to purchase artwork at the corner of Talbot Street and Railroad Avenue.
The organizers of the 2020 Daffodil Days is St. Michaels in Bloom, a community organization dedicated to the beautification of St. Michaels. Consisting solely of volunteers, they work to create a welcoming and vibrant landscape for the town through the planting of colorful flowers, plants, and trees throughout the community.
