Talbot County Fair Celebrates 35 Years
July 12 - July 14
The Talbot County Fair is celebrating 35 years on July 12 through 14. The fair, located at the Talbot Ag Center on Hiners Lane, off Route 50, in Easton, has so much to do and see.
Shelly Abbott will start off the entertainment at the fair on Thursday, July 12 at 6 p.m. She has performed locally and nationally for more than 35 years as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Her voice extends over a wide vocal range enabling her to perform songs made famous by greats like Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, Roy Orbison and Brenda Lee.
Eric Karge will be performing on Saturday, July 14 at 7 p.m. Eric is an up and coming country songwriter having performed with country greats like Sammy Kershaw, Mark Chestnutt and Aaron Tippin. Eric won the Maryland Music Award Country Artist of the Year in 2014 and was nominated for Songwriter of the Year in 2016. Come on out for some fabulous boot stompin’ country music at the fair.
Each evening offers something fun. Thursday is the Baked Goods Auction that helps support local 4-H groups. Friday is the Fashion Show put on by our local 4-H youth who show off their fashion designs down the runway. Saturday is your ever-delicious Watermelon Eating Contest and Jousting contest.
Dinners will be served by local organizations that support the youth and community in the area. The Talbot Ag & Education Center will host a BBQ Pulled Pork dinner on Thursday. A Pit Beef dinner will be served Friday by the Talbot County Young Farmers. Saturday’s dinner is the BBQ Chicken dinner sponsored by Easton FFA Alumni. There are also other food services as well serving hamburgers, subs, ice cream, drinks and other yummy choices.
Come dressed as your favorite princess on Thursday for Princess Night. Local Fire Queens will also be on hand to talk about fire safety. There will be a magician, exotic animals, youth pedal pull and the Livestock Auction. Enjoy the Midway and try winning games, jumping on the inflatables or climb the rock wall, and visit local commercial vendors.
Local business and community organizations are welcome to sponsor, advertise or participate in the fair. And remember, the fair isn’t just for kids. Adult exhibitors are welcome to show off their prized flowers, artwork, veggies and more.
The Talbot Fair Board would like to thank this year’s sponsor, Easton Chick Fil-A, for their continued support of local 4-H and FFA members and the fair. For more information, visit http://talbotcountyfair.org or call 410-822-1244.
