TAP Opens “Little Shop of Horrors”
August 9 @ 7:30 pm - August 26 @ 9:30 pm
Tred Avon Players (TAP) will open the musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors” on Thursday, August 9 at the Oxford Community Center. The play, written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, will run for three weekends through August 26 at the community center located at 200 Oxford Road in Oxford. The production is directed by Marcia Gilliam and produced by Leigh Marquess.
In the show, Seymour Krelborn is a meek, dejected assistant in a seedy flower shop on Skid Row. He stumbles across a new breed of plant that he names “Audrey Two” after his co-worker crush, Audrey. The R&B singing, carnivorous plant promises fame and fortune to the down-and-out Seymour as long as he keeps feeding it – blood.
As Audrey Two grows bigger and meaner, Seymour discovers the plant’s extraterrestrial origins and its intent of global domination. But, has he discovered this too late?
Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Oxford Community Center starting August 9 and running through August 26. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets on Thrifty Thursday, August 9 are two for $20. For tickets, visit TredAvonPlayers.org or call 410-226-0061.
