MCF Hosts Online Substance Use Disorder Workshops

Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is offering a free six-part series of virtual workshops to educate Eastern Shore families about substance use disorders and local support services.
This series, which will be offered on Thursdays from May 7 to June 11 at 10:00 a.m, is part of MCF’s overarching effort to adapt all services to online, virtual formats to continue to provide family peer support during the COVID-19 health crisis. The series will cover topics such as:
• how to recognize and respond to substance use disorders
• the science behind trauma and addiction
• how to navigate local behavioral health systems and advocate for policy change
• the importance of self-care
• how MCF’s family peer support can help
Space for this workshop is limited, and preference will be given to Eastern Shore residents. To register, go to
In addition to this workshop series, MCF offers an expanded array of virtual support and social groups for anyone who has a loved one with a behavioral health challenges. These include grief support, transitional-aged youth meet-ups, book clubs, family fun activities, and even regional and county-specific groups.
