Woman’s Club Welcomes February Lecturer

The Cambridge Woman’s Club is very excited to announce February’s lecturer, Cambridge’s own Dion Banks.
Dion was born in Cambridge was educated in the Dorchester County school system graduating from Cambridge South Dorchester High. He went on to undergraduate studies at Kentucky University. Dion then achieved his BA in Business Management while serving in the US Army from 1990-1994.  There he was the recipient of many medals including the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Southeast Asia service medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal-Saudi Arabia and the Kuwait Liberation Medal- Kuwait.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Dion spent several years in Chicago gaining exposure to international business working as an operations manager for Seaton Corporation.  In 2002 Dion returned to the Eastern Shore to be near his aging father and family. He then secured a position with Cambridge International the world’s largest metal belts manufacturer.
Dion has played an active role in community engagement and leadership. He is a lifetime member of the NAACP and serves on numerous boards for service organizations. He was appointed Maryland Commissioner on African American history and culture by then governor Larry Hogan.
Dion endeavors to live a life of service acting as a conduit for awareness, development and empowerment. He is the co-founder of the Eastern Shore network for change. He also serves on the Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. board.  As an influencer for social and environmental issues Dion elevates the city of Cambridge by sharing its unique history with the world by creating educational experiences that tell a story of hope, faith, community and change.
Welcome Dion Banks for his lecture February 3 at 1 pm at the historic Sycamore Cottage at 417 High Street in Cambridge.
There will be delish refreshments at 12:30 pm with a lecture to follow. There is plenty of parking on the cottage property to left and in back of building. As always there is no charge for this event.  Questions? Call Kathy at 415-483-6969.
