A Concert in Oxford

August 19, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Ashley Watkins, Flutist, will be presenting a concert Sunday, August 19 at 4 p.m. She will be joined by Denise Nathanson, a well-known cellist. The Church of the Holy Trinity is located at 502 South Morris Street in Oxford.

Ashley was intrigued with musical instruments as a young child, growing up in Cambridge. She quickly progressed to advanced levels performing with the Chesapeake and DC Youth Orchestras and the Peabody Sinfonietta. Leaving the Eastern Shore, she studied and received performance degrees from James Madison University in Virginia and The University of Akron in Ohio. Recently Ashley performed for the 2018 National Day of Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives. She was also a guest artist for the 2017 Flute Festival at Howard University in Washington, DC. Joe Cunliffe, a distinguished recording artist and Artistic Ambassador to the U.S., has accepted Ashley into his jazz studio, where she studies today.

Denise Nathanson is a well-known cellist, music educator, needlepoint, and yoga instructor on the East Coast. Presently, Denise resides most of the year in Key West, where she is the Music Director for the Key West Community Orchestra and Co-Director for the Southernmost Chamber Music Society. In December 2016, Denise formed The Key West Duo with violinist Irie Monte. With strong interests in music education and music administration, Denise has been active in developing and performing in outreach and community programs. Denise also served as a Music Program Director for the Academy Art Museum, in Easton.

Enjoy a wonderful afternoon of classical, popular, and jazz music. For further information, contact 410-226-5134 or office@holytrinityoxfordmd.org. An offering will be taken for artist expenses.
