Band Together: A Mental Health Awareness Fundraising Event

September 7, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Mark the date, September 7, for an evening of music, dance, raffles and more with Band Together for Mental Health, a fundraiser-awareness event for The Mental Health Association of the Eastern Shore (MHAES). Featuring the fantastic live music of Three Penny Opera at The Elks Lodge on Dutchman’s Lane in Easton, the event is sure to please.

The Mental Health Association of the Eastern Shore is the only organization whose sole purpose is to provide education and advocacy for mental health. Serving a five-county area and supporting the needs of all age groups, MHAES programs vary from Healthy New Moms to Veteran Support to Mental Health First Aid training. The organization recently received a grant to provide mental health first aid training to nursing home staff throughout the Eastern Shore.

Band Together for Mental Health will feature the renowned Three Penny Opera, playing upbeat well-loved favorites. Members of the Elks Club have generously donated their ballroom, and ticket prices are just $20. Local businesses have given musically-oriented raffle items including tickets to the Monty Alexander Jazz Festival’s concert in August 2019, coupled with dinner at Scossa Restaurant and Lounge in Easton. Further raffle items will feature gift certificates to musical events, restaurants, hotel accommodations, dance and music lessons and some surprises.

Recent suicides in our community are evidence of the critical need for superior education about mental health. The MHAES is partnering with Talbot Goes Purple to take the next step from awareness to prevention of the challenges that often lead to abuse. Everyone needs to be involved because mental health matters.

The MHAES invites music lovers of all ages to come out on the evening of September 7 at 7 p.m. to The Elks Lodge on Dutchman’s Lane in Easton to hear Three Penny Opera, featuring Jon Bland, bass guitar and vocals, Greg Wemmer, keyboard and vocals, Aulby Bates, drums and vocals and Kenny Haddaway on guitar and vocals. Take pleasure in the live music, dance, win a raffle and support the mental health of our community. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, visit www.mhamdes.org.
