Choral Workshops for Youth, Concert
February 28, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
On Friday, February 28, The American Spiritual Ensemble will be conducting choral workshops for youth and sharing a public concert that evening in Oxford.
The American Spiritual Ensemble is a well-established choral ensemble, founded by Dr. Everett McCorvey in the 1990s. Over the years, the ensemble has grown to a membership of 100 renown opera singers, prominent music theatre artists, leading faculty and music department chairmen of leading music schools nationwide. A couple of times a year, 25 singers come together and tour nationally and internationally with Everett sharing spirituals, jazz works, classical music, and world music. The Church of the Holy Trinity is extremely grateful the American Spiritual Ensemble requests to return to Oxford and experience the hospitality of our congregation and community.
This year, The Church of the Holy Trinity will be hosting morning choral workshops for public school choirs. Three choirs will come from Dorchester County Public Schools, one choir from Talbot County Public Schools, and a local women’s ensemble will participate in the 75-minute workshops led by ensemble members. This is a once in a lifetime experience for our area youth and musicians. They will see and experience that they, too, can follow their dreams and make music a significant part of their lives. The workshops will be hosted at several venues throughout Oxford and lunch will be provided by community businesses. A grant from The Pauline F. and W. David Robbins Charitable Foundation Trust is helping fund these workshops. Additional donations to support the workshops are welcomed.
In the evening, The American Spiritual Ensemble will present a public concert at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary of The Church of The Holy Trinity, located at 502 South Morris Street in Oxford. All are welcome to attend. A freewill offering will be taken to defray the ensemble’s expenses. For further information, contact 410-226-5134 or email@example.com.
