April 6 • Habitat Maintenance and Monitoring Techniques • 6:30-7:30 p.m.
This program provides participants an understanding of the necessary maintenance and monitoring techniques required to ensure their habitat is functioning properly. Participants will focus on best management practice habitat types (e.g. wetlands, rain gardens, native plantings, etc.) that are essential in contributing to the improved health of the Chesapeake Bay.

April 8 • Rain Gardens: Landscaping for Water Quality • 10 a.m. – Noon
This course introduces participants to the concept of rain gardens with a focus on their benefits to the environment and the surrounding watershed. Participants will leave with the basic knowledge of how rain gardens are designed, created and maintained.
Marvelous Monarch Wednesdays (MAMI)
April 12 • Butterfly Gardening • 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Participants are invited to learn how to create a butterfly garden to improve habitat value for regional butterfly species. Participants will also leave with their own butterfly garden planting plan to jump start their spring planting efforts.
April 20 • Hydric Soil Basics • 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Wetlands are a unique ecosystem defined by specialized hydric soils. Come increase your understanding of what hydric soils are while learning about the variety of soils found on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
April 24-28 • Basic Wetland Delineation • 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Students and professionals just entering the field of wetland science, as well as those needing a review, should attend this 4.5 day (36-hour) course covering the methodologies and protocols set forth by the Corps of Engineers. The participants will focus on the technical aspects of wetland delineation using the individual wetland parameters of vegetation, soils and hydrology.
