Participants will gain helpful tips on chicken breeds, do-it-yourself chicken coop plans and how to pasture chickens using portable, poultry fencing and more.

Native Plant Sale: Shop at the annual spring native plant sale located at EC’s waterfront campus in St. Michaels from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. EC will have hundreds of native plant species available from its greenhouses available for purchase. Mid-Atlantic Monarch Initiative presents a Milkweed Planting Workshop

May 12 • 10 – 11 a.m.

Participants will get up close with native milkweed species while learning about the Monarch butterfly and the dependence of the Monarch caterpillars on native milkweed for survival. Participants will learn about how to plant and grow milkweed on their own properties.

Basic Wetland Plant ID: EC staff will teach participants to become familiar with the proper protocols and tool for plant identification with a focus on wetland plants of the Mid-Atlantic region.

School Gardening for Sustainable Food Production: This course will provide participants with the knowledge necessary to begin the process of planting a schoolyard vegetable garden.
