“Heart and Music” Concert at Tilghman
May 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Come out to Tilghman and rock back in time to the groovy 1960s and early 70s with music by Motown, John Denver, Neil Diamond and Ashford & Simpson. Hear songs as you remember hearing them sung by Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and Tony Orlando & Dawn. Presented by the talented choral group Heart and Music, this show is a fantastic blend of two great eras of songs and lyrics.
This free concert will be held at the Tilghman United Methodist Church (TUMC) on May 20 at 6 p.m. It is a celebration of our local artists and features an all star cast of local talent, including Gail Aveson, Randy Bachand, Jane Copple, Katie Cox, Marcia Gilliam, Beth Anne Langrell, Ed Langrell, Amy Morgan, Lisa Roth, Zack Schlag, Heather Scott, Joe Tyler and Ricky Vitanovec.
This successful show debuted as a fundraiser for For All Seasons (FAS) and is now coming to Tilghman as part of an ongoing partnership between the TUMC and FAS. “This collaboration started with music, but has lead to an amazing partnership between FAS and the Tilghman Community,” says concert organizer Debra Brookhouser.
As a private, non-profit human services agency, FAS is dedicated to meeting the unmet needs in our community of uninsured and underinsured mental health and rape crisis clients. And now, as part of the partnership with the TUMC, FAS is providing weekly mental health and addiction services to the Tilghman area. Based out of the Tilghman Church, FAS has a counselor available every Tuesday to bring services closer to the community.
This means that the May 20 concert is not only a celebration of our local musicians but also a celebration of the ways that music brings people together and the possibilities of collaboration.
This concert series is funded and organized by the Tilghman United Methodist Church and partially sponsored by the Friends of the Tilghman Watermen’s Museum and by the Talbot County Arts Council with funds provided by the Talbot County Council and the Towns of Easton, Oxford and St. Michaels.
