Partners In Care: A Hidden Gem
October 7, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Partners In Care Maryland (PIC) is a 501(c)3 community nonprofit that helps older adults remain independent in their own homes and engaged in the community. Currently, PIC serves both Talbot and Caroline counties. PIC operates using an innovative time exchange model by offering no-cost services such as transportation, small home repairs and meaningful social network of support.
Most people want to stay in their homes and the communities they know and love as they age. PIC encourages its members to use their time and talents to help themselves and each other in our community. Additional services include friendly visits and warm houses.
PIC’s most popular warm house, or gathering, is the low-vision group. The group meets monthly to ensure that this population can get the best information, both medically and emotionally. In addition, PIC hosts picnics, luncheons and outings, and events with speakers. PIC supplies the transportation for these events.
The Ride Partners program allows volunteer drivers to use their own cars to transport members to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacies or to run errands. This is an arm-in-arm service.
Interested in becoming a member? Call to schedule an in-home interview. One must be 60 years of age or older and be a good neighbor. To become a volunteer driver, office helper or a phone buddy, schedule an orientation in the office on October 7 at 2 p.m. and November 18 at 10 a.m.
Although things have changed due to COVID-19, PIC remains committed to serving the older adults in our communities. To learn more about PIC, call 410-822-1803 or visit www.partnersincare.org.

On November 1, Community For Life℠-Talbot County will be merging with Partners In Care. If you are not familiar with the program, this means that we will continue to offer our no-cost services to our members, but we will also be offering guaranteed services through Community For Life. This new partnership will serve both Talbot and Caroline counties. Members who are a part of the CFL program will pay a monthly fee to ensure guaranteed rides and handyperson services.
