Laser Letters Celebrates 40 Years of Printing, People, and Community

EASTON – Laser Letters, Inc., a locally owned print and communications company serving Maryland’s Eastern Shore, proudly marks its 40th anniversary on March 31, 2026. What began as a small design shop has grown alongside the community it serves. Founded in 1986, Laser Letters has spent four decades helping businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations turn ideas into printed materials that inform, connect, and endure.

Co-owners Judi and Bud Loscomb credit the milestone to dedicated employees and loyal customers. “Forty years in business happens because of trust, teamwork, and a commitment to keep learning as our industry evolves. We are deeply grateful to the customers who have allowed us to be a part of their stories.”

Laser Letters provides commercial printing and mailing services, along with custom print solutions, offering technical support to help projects move smoothly from concept to completion.

The Laser Letters team continues to evolve with changing technology while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and customer service. It is fortuitous that Judi is an avid learner, keeping pace with technology’s blazing fast advancements.

In 2010, Laser Letters worked with Attraction magazine publisher Richard Slaughter and editor Jenn Latham to set up new digital templates for page layout and advertising design. This transition allowed Attraction to do their own typesetting and layout. For the next five years, Laser Letters designed advertising each month for placement in the magazine. “It was a pleasure to be part of the Attraction magazine team,” Judi said.

Beyond the business, Judi and Bud have actively supported philanthropic work in the community through groups like Soroptimist International, Women & Girls Fund, and Rotary International, among others. They have also been directly involved with the Friends of Hospice’s Festival of Trees for 40 years.

Since 1986, Judi and Bud have been members of the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce and have received invaluable guidance, training and advocacy from the association. The Talbot Chamber tapped Laser Letters as Small Business of the Year in 1991, and in 2001 Judi was honored as the Small Business Woman of the Year. Bud and Judi have both served full terms on the Board of Directors, with Judi serving as the 2005 Board of Directors Chairperson. Today, she is the volunteer coordinator for ten small printing companies across the US who meet online monthly to share successes and challenges.

“As Laser Letters looks ahead, our focus remains the same: supporting local businesses, strengthening community connections, and delivering print that works as hard as the people who rely on it,” Judi added. “I consider myself fortunate that I still find fulfillment and growth in the work I do each day. To me, that’s the true distinction between a career versus a job.”
