Briana Legg and Tess Weller Named Constitution Alliance Scholarship Winners

EASTON — The Constitution Alliance Fund has named Briana Legg of Grasonville and Tess Weller of Easton their 2026 scholarship recipients. Each student receives a $1,000 scholarship to be used for college or educational training of their choice.

Legg is a graduate of Kent Island High School and Weller is a St. Michaels High School graduate. The students were chosen for leadership and service in the community, exceptional academic performance, and outstanding personal essays on the meaning of the Constitution. The Constitution Alliance Scholarship Fund, sponsored by individual donors and the Constitution Academy, recognizes academic excellence and dedication to the principles of the Constitution while supporting students as they pursue meaningful careers in history, education, law, public service, government, civic leadership, and related fields that promote civic engagement and preserving our nation’s heritage.

Briana Legg is planning to major in history at Appalachian State University and her future career plans include teaching the importance of the structure of the US government to the next generation. Tess Weller is attending the U.S. Naval Academy with plans to commission as a Naval Aviator to serve the nation.

The Mid-Shore Constitution Alliance, in partnership with the Washington College Institute for Religion, Politics & Culture and Operation Frederick Douglass on the Hill, works to promote civic engagement through education and a commitment to uphold constitutional values and the founding principles of freedom.

The Constitution Alliance will celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence in conjunction with the St. Michael’s Flag Day Celebration on Saturday, June 13 in St. Michaels, Maryland, part of the broader Talbot250, MD250, and America250 commemorative initiatives. The event will honor the enduring significance of the American flag, the Declaration of Independence, and Maryland’s historical role in the nation’s founding. The event is made possible by VFW Easton Post 5118, Burke and Herbert Bank Foundation; and the support of the Talbot County Free Library, the Talbot County Economic Development and Tourism Office, and the MD 250/ Talbot County Commission. Additional sponsorships are available. To make a donation or for more information, contact Michelle Ewing at mpewing@hotmail.com, 410-200-5571.
