Yamaha Marine Supports Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company

Heather Pickens

TILGHMAN ISLAND, MD — The Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company received significant support from Yamaha Marine to repower its fire rescue boat, strengthening the department’s ability to respond to emergencies on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding waterways, where speed, reliability, and performance are critical.

Tilghman Island is a working waterfront community where life and livelihoods are closely tied to the Chesapeake Bay. The Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company serves as one of the area’s primary marine emergency responders, with its fire rescue boat often serving as the first line of response for boating accidents, medical emergencies, search-and-rescue operations, and fires on the water.

Dependable equipment is essential to the department’s ability to respond quickly and safely when emergencies occur. Yamaha’s assistance helps ensure that the fire company has the reliable equipment it needs to continue protecting the public.

The upgraded triple-engine setup features Yamaha 450-horsepower XTO Offshore® outboards paired with Helm Master® EX, providing exceptional high-output charging, enhanced reverse thrust, and precise joystick control of the multi-engine system. Together, these advanced technologies provide the power, maneuverability, and reliability needed for the fire company’s demanding marine emergency response operations.

“We extend our appreciation to everyone at Yamaha who helped make this possible,” said Thomas Kolbe, President of the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company. “Your generosity and commitment to supporting first responders will have a lasting impact on our operations for years to come.”

Volunteer fire companies rely heavily on community support, grants, and partnerships with local businesses to maintain the equipment and resources necessary to serve their communities. Support from partners such as Yamaha helps departments like the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company maximize limited resources and invest in critical equipment that strengthens public safety and enhances emergency response capabilities.
