Choptank Health Expands Dental and Behavioral Health Access with Three New Providers

Tracey F Johns

Choptank Community Health System is expanding access to dental and behavioral health care across Maryland’s Mid-Shore with the addition of three providers at its Chestertown, Denton, and Easton health centers.

Areeg Elmusrati, BDS, PhD, has joined the dental team at the Chestertown Health Center. Roland Jennings, LCSW-C, is providing behavioral health care at the Denton Health Center, and Sarah Kinsel, LCPC, has joined the behavioral health team at the Easton Health Center.

“Adding three providers means more appointments and better access for patients across the Mid-Shore,” said Sara Rich, president and CEO of Choptank Community Health System.

“Our dental and behavioral health teams have done an outstanding job responding to a growing need,” she said. “Dr. Elmusrati, Roland, and Sarah bring the experience and added capacity to help us care for more people while providing the connected, comprehensive care every patient deserves.”

Dr. Elmusrati brings extensive clinical, academic, and research experience to the Chestertown dental team. She earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honors from the University of Tripoli in Libya, a master’s degree with honors in diagnostic oral pathology, and a doctorate in oral and maxillofacial pathology from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. She also completed advanced training in orofacial pain at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California.

Her experience includes comprehensive general dentistry, urgent dental care, preventive and restorative treatment, oral medicine and pathology, care for patients with complex medical needs, and diagnosing and managing orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders. Her addition further expands dental capacity at the Chestertown Health Center, where Choptank Health recently added pediatric dental and primary care providers.

Jennings earned a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Salisbury University. He is a licensed, certified social worker-clinical in Maryland and a Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners-certified supervisor. His experience includes individual, marital, and family counseling; crisis intervention; clinical supervision; school-based behavioral health care; and community mental health services.

Jennings has worked with teens and adults and has training in dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, grief counseling, and approaches for treating complex trauma. He provides behavioral health services as part of Choptank Health’s integrated care team at the Denton Health Center.

Kinsel earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Argosy University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in crisis counseling from Liberty University. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Maryland and a nationally certified counselor with more than nine years of clinical experience.

Her background includes clinical assessment, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, telemedicine, cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), case management, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary care coordination. Kinsel also served in the U.S. Air Force and brings experience supporting patients through hospital, community, school-based, and virtual care settings.

Choptank Community Health System provides medical, dental, behavioral health, and school-based health services throughout Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties, serving nearly 35,000 adults and children across Maryland’s Mid-Shore. New patients are welcome in all locations. For more information, visit www.ChoptankHealth.org.
