The Foundation is expanding volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital and creating new ways for community members to contribute their time and talents while supporting the hospital’s mission. Through a combination of established and newly developed programs, volunteers can play an important role in enhancing the patient and visitor experience, supporting hospital departments, and strengthening connections between the hospital and the community it serves.

Hospital volunteers provide a wide range of non-clinical support services, including welcoming visitors, escorting guests to their destinations, assisting with clerical projects, assembling materials, transporting items, or helping departments with day-to-day operational needs, volunteers contribute to the overall efficiency of hospital operations. Their support helps departments manage important tasks and allows clinical staff to remain focused on patient care.

Three distinct volunteer pathways are offered and designed to meet the interests and availability of different individuals: 1) The Hospital Auxiliary continues to provide service opportunities through its well-established membership organization, 2) a new Adult Hospital Volunteer Program for individuals interested in making an ongoing commitment to a specific hospital department, and 3) a Student Volunteer Program for those 16 years or older, where students can gain exposure to healthcare settings, develop workplace and communication skills, and explore potential career interests while supporting hospital operations.
