Chesapeake Music is proud to announce its 2026–2027 Interlude Concert Season, a year-round series bringing world-class musicians, innovative ensembles, and gifted young artists to the Eastern Shore. This season boasts an extraordinary lineup of acclaimed artists, featuring two genre-defying ensembles in the fall and a unique three-concert residency series led by Catherine Cho, Chesapeake Music Artistic Director. Concerts take place at The Ebenezer Theater at Prager Family Center for the Arts in Easton.

The 2026–2027 season opens on Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. with ArcoStrum, a trailblazing duo of violinist Strauss Shi and guitarist TY Zhang. Praised as “a first-rate ensemble among the new generation of performing artists,” ArcoStrum captivates audiences with a groundbreaking program that blends classical masterpieces, Chinese traditional music, progressive rock, and popular music. TY performs on both acoustic and electric guitars, while Strauss performs on violin and traditional Chinese instruments—including the erhu and Chinese flute—creating a distinctive cultural perspective and innovative musical voice that is truly one of a kind.

On Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m., Chesapeake Music welcomes back Synchrony Quartet following their unforgettable award-winning performance at the 2026 Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. Based in Chicago, this saxophone quartet—Philip Kleutgens, Hudson O’Reilly, Matthew Johnson, and Haven Kahn—is known for delivering creative and engaging programs that transcend genre. Equally versed in a wide range of musical styles, each member creates original arrangements and transcriptions of beloved classical works, jazz standards, and popular music while celebrating and promoting new and exciting contemporary compositions.

In 2027, Chesapeake Music will host a three-part chamber music residency series called Catherine Cho & Friends. Curated and led by Chesapeake Music Artistic Director Catherine Cho, these unique residencies bring together outstanding young musicians to explore and present programs that celebrate the richness and versatility of the chamber music repertoire. Each residency includes two days of community outreach and education events, followed by a culminating Saturday evening Interlude Series performance, offering audiences intimate and extraordinary musical experiences.

The performance on February 6 at 7:30 p.m. will feature Catherine Cho on viola, joined by violinists Tianyou Ma and Gabrielle Després, cellist Leland Ko, tenor Daniel McGrew, and pianist Charles Berofsky. On March 13 at 7:30 p.m., Catherine Cho will perform on violin alongside pianist Albert Cano Smit. The conclusion of the series is on April 17 at 7:30 p.m., with Catherine Cho on viola, joined by violinist Lun Li, cellist Sterling Elliott, and pianist Albert Cano Smit. Together with Catherine Cho, these distinguished young artists will present a program celebrating the depth, beauty, and enduring relevance of chamber music.
